I actually bought one of these routers (refurbished) with the intent of reworking the sled to hold it. I haven’t yet started work on it, though. Perhaps we can collaborate.
There’s a section on the kickstarter page that states:
“Some suggestions are more involved than others. The following upgrades will be added to version 2.0 if they get at least 20 votes:”
How do I vote?
Since you used my name as the example of naming a part, for the $75 pledge, that’s the one I pledged. I’m glad you didn’t use it for one of the larger pledges. ;-)
Extending the Y axis is a project I want to tackle. My goal will be to make a large enough bed that a DIYLILCNC will be able to mill out the parts for another DIYLILCNC.
@sly, sounds like you are very close to me. I built a DIYLILCNC, at TechShop in Menlo Park, and exhibited it at the last San Mateo Maker Faire. I’m in the planning stage of some upgrades for it. If you’d like to compare notes, you can contact me at wrhastings at me dot com.
When I exhibited at the San Mateo Maker Faire, I also got a lot of questions about buying a kit. I think offering the sub-kit of laser cut panels is a good idea. I actually thought about doing it myself, but the only lasers I have access to are not large enough to cut the long gantry panels.
The model PVR20EVSK I referenced has variable speed, adjustable from 16,000 RPM to 35,000 RPM. Not quite the same range of 5,000 to 35,000 RPM, that the Dremel has, but still a lot more versatile than single speed.
I just came across the Bosch Colt Palm Router. Looks like a good option if you want/need more power.
Is the offer still good for you guys to send me a tool path of the URL, for my demo at Maker Faire?
I just received word that my application has been accepted and I will be exhibiting my DIYLILCNC at the Maker Faire, San Mateo. Now, I just need to finish building it.
@MrPaul, Just a thought, but have you verified that all lines have a width of “hairline”? If not, those lines will be etched as a raster, instead of vector.
