I was going to upload a picture, but I didn’t realize pictures were disabled. I’ll have to find somewhere to host one.

Thanks for the tips! Keep them coming! My pieces are sitting at my buddy’s shop waiting for me to pick them up. Need to order my hardware this weekend. Take more pics! I’ll do my best to document as well. Can’t wait to start.

Those pictures are great. What did you use for the 3D model? Should be getting my parts next week. I can’t wait. Going to try and get my computer set up and installed with Linux and goodies. Look forward to reading more about your problems so I can solve mine when they arise.

After building this and trouble shooting, would you recommend upgrading the board or software for people building now? I’m going to be ordering mine soon and if I can spend an extra $50+ to minimize headache or make the machine more flexible I’d be interested in hearing about Pro vs. non-pro. Hope things are working out for you. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. That’s what I had figured, but I wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything else to consider. I can’t wait to hear if my parts are done so I can send in my McMaster and bearing orders.

I am extending my bed to 36″. How much belt should I order? Calculating the rods are easy enough.

I got the all clear on all my files. Hopefully I will have them in a week or two.

Sounds great. I can always upgrade later. I’m going to lengthen my Y. Files are sent. I don’t mind cutting slow.

Just downloaded the Rhino file and noticed that it would be easy to support the rail if it needed it. How much space is there between the rail and bed? It would seem that making small braces to support it would be easy, should I need them. I didn’t realize the whole Zframe just floated on TOP of the rail. Excellent. Just redesigned a larger bed and sent it out to my CNC guy. Hopefully he hasn’t cut my files yet. : )

So your bed was roughly 76cm x 61cm correct? Did you end up making your bed roughly 76cm x 69cm? Giving you an extra three or so inches? In which case my 36′ (91.4cm) rod that I order will be fine. Maybe I’ll order an extra rod just in case? And then I’ll just add another two feet of belt to compensate for length. I think I’ll use the same MXL belt since it is available, unless you see an advantage to the larger belt size. But I prefer to modify as little as possible.

Charles, do you have a blog or anything with information about your build? what are your final bed dimensions? What size rods and belts did you use? Did you modify any supports? I’d love to have a 12″x18″ cutting area vs the 12″x12″. Thanks!

His designs are great. If he ever does a step by step instruction tutorial I may have to try some of it. I think I’ll stick to the standard model to familiarize myself with building first.

I hope not. My pieces are being cut in the next two weeks. Just designed my table with slots in the braces to puzzle together. They are AI files if anyone wants them.

What size cutting area with 2.0 have? And what materials are you guys looking at? I’m also very intersted in a larger size and wouldn’t mind being a guinea pig when that time comes. Especially if it uses the same steppers and board. Since that will be on my build already. And I can upgrade. Plus I have access to a 4′x8′ cnc machine to cut pieces. Even aluminium.
